Ravens Take on the Coast: A Memorable Trip to Newport, Oregon

The Ravens (our adventurous 4th and 5th grade students) recently returned from their annual three-day, two-night camping trip—and what a trip it was! With sunshine overhead and the Oregon coast as their classroom, the students explored, discovered, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

Camping at beautiful Beverly Beach State Park, the Ravens spent their days immersed in both nature and hands-on learning. They marveled at tidepools teeming with life, played together on the beach, and enjoyed the simple joy of sharing meals and stories under the stars.

The group also visited the Hatfield Marine Science Center, where students got an up-close look at marine ecosystems and the science behind ocean conservation. A stop at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center gave them a deeper appreciation for the human stories that shape Oregon’s coastal history.

This annual tradition blends science, community, and adventure in a way that few experiences can. It’s a chance for students to connect with nature, bond with classmates, and step into a larger world beyond the classroom walls.

Thank you to teachers Laura and Victoria and amazing parent volunteers who made this trip possible—and to our Ravens, for bringing their curiosity, enthusiasm, and wonder to every moment.
