Meadowlarks Explore Rivers at Clackamette Park

As part of their thematic study on water and rivers, the Meadowlarks (2nd & 3rd grade) took their learning outside the classroom last Thursday with a field trip to Clackamette Park. This special spot, where the Willamette and Clackamas Rivers meet, offered students the perfect opportunity to observe a river confluence firsthand.

Throughout the day, students built models and conducted experiments to better understand watersheds and the movement of water. A nature scavenger hunt along the trails encouraged close observation and curiosity, while time for play and exploration made the experience both joyful and memorable.

By engaging with the natural world in meaningful ways, our Meadowlarks deepened their study through hands-on discovery and creative exploration, hallmarks of a Marylhurst education. Days like these highlight how learning can be both rigorous and joyful, inspiring students to see connections between their studies and the world around them.
