Transportation Summer Camp: A Week of Wheels, Wings, and Wonder

Last week, our 3 to 6 year-old campers embarked on a joyful journey through all things transportation during our Transportation Summer Camp—and what a ride it was!

Monday kicked off with a special treat: a ride on the Waterfall trolley. Excitement filled the air as children climbed aboard, rang the bell, and experienced the charm of rail-style travel. Even experiencing the spray of the sprinklers through the windows resulted in squeals of excitement.

On Tuesday, we read Sheep in a Jeep, and campers explored a Jeep up close and even got creative building their own personal cars. With cardboard, wheels, and plenty of imagination, each child designed a vehicle uniquely their own, with personalized license plates—proof that the best transportation sometimes starts with a cardboard box, a little tape and a big idea.

Wednesday brought flashing lights and big smiles as a firetruck pulled up to campus. Our young transportation enthusiasts got to meet real firefighters, explore the truck, talk about toys versus tools and when to call 911, and marvel at all the equipment that helps keep our community safe.

On Thursday, the adventure continued with a peek inside Teacher Heather’s RV. The children were fascinated by how a home-on-wheels works, checked out the many beds available, and discussed future road trip opportunities. Many students were amazed by the refrigerator and microwave on board.

We wrapped up on Friday with pure fun—rides in Dale’s golf cart and a test of our aviation skills as carefully folded paper airplanes soared down the hill.

From land to air, public transit to personal creations, our campers experienced transportation in many forms—always with wide eyes, curious questions, and laughter.

It was a wonderful week, filled with exploration, creativity, and the joy of discovery. Thank you to all the friends, families, and community members who helped make Transportation Week unforgettable!
