Marylhurst Gives Back: A Food Drive to Remember
At The Marylhurst School, we believe that community is something we practice through care, compassion, and acts of service that ripple outward. Our PCA led the way this past week of November 10-14, asking our students, families, teachers, and staff to come together for our first annual food drive, and the results were nothing short of inspiring.
As cars rolled through drop-off and pickup, bags and boxes of food, toiletries, and paper goods were unloaded, and it quickly became clear that this year’s effort would make a meaningful impact for our neighbors in Oregon City and West Linn.
Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we delivered overflowing carloads of food to the Gleaners of Clackamas County (495 lbs) and West Linn Food Pantry (581lbs), both local organizations working tirelessly to ensure that no family in our region goes without access to nutritious food. These donations will help stock shelves, fill weekly food boxes, and support households experiencing food insecurity during the holiday season and beyond. We also added Father’s Heart Street Ministry, which serves the houseless population of Oregon City, thanks to the protein-rich single-serving food packets that were donated. All of these nonprofits were thrilled with the donations and wanted us to pass on their gratitude.
We are appreciative of everyone who participated, those who donated food, volunteered time, spread the word, or encouraged their children to take part. Your kindness reflects the heart of The Marylhurst School and strengthens the bonds we share with our wider communities. Thank you.
