Celebrating Harvest Fest: A Day of Joy, Creativity, and Community
Last Friday, our campus came alive with the vibrant energy of Harvest Fest, an event planned and led entirely by our students. This long-standing Marylhurst tradition offers students the opportunity to design, organize, and guide the celebration, bringing our values of creativity, collaboration, and community to life.
Students enjoyed a range of games and stations, including Ring Around the Pumpkin, Pumpkin Bowling, Cornhole, Estimation Games, and Face Painting. Each activity reflected the students’ creativity and teamwork, making the day uniquely their own.
In keeping with tradition, we shared a warm and hearty lunch of vegetable soup, prepared using ingredients contributed by every class, a wonderful expression of our community coming together. Our middle school students added to the festivities by warming apple cider and frying homemade donuts, which were enjoyed by all.
To close the day, the community gathered to sing the Oatcake Song and for the much-anticipated rolling of the oatcake. Cheers erupted as it landed on “X,” signaling a snowy winter ahead!
Harvest Fest is always one of the most joyful days of the year, a celebration of student leadership and the spirit of togetherness that makes The Marylhurst School so special.
