Lauren Pohl

Lauren joined The Marylhurst School faculty in the fall of 2025. Born and raised in Oregon, Lauren has spent her entire life immersed in the Pacific Northwest, and over 13 years teaching children from preschool through third grade in a variety of settings, including dual-language classrooms, Spanish immersion programs, and her own play-based preschool. She holds a Master of Arts in Education (PK–8) with endorsements in Reading and English as a Second Language, and has taught in both English and Spanish throughout her career.

Most recently, she founded and led Growing Hearts Preschool, a play-based, inquiry-driven program rooted in kindness, curiosity, and joyful learning. As both teacher and director, she developed curriculum, expanded enrollment, and partnered with public funding programs to increase access for diverse families.

Lauren believes deeply in nurturing the whole child, supporting social-emotional development, academic growth, and a strong sense of belonging. She is passionate about child-led exploration, project-based learning, and creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where every child can thrive.

Outside the classroom, she stays on her toes raising her three wonderful kids, a spirited 9-year-old daughter and energetic 6-year-old twin boys. She enjoys hiking, making art, reading children’s books, and attempting to drink a full cup of coffee before it gets cold (a rare victory!). She’s always on the lookout for the next great read-aloud and never passes up a chance to sing silly songs or build with blocks.
